What interesting and concerning times! By now, nearly everyone on the planet is aware of COVID-19. Concerning? Yes, for no one is sure where the spread of this virus will take us or what it will mean. As a ministry with work stretching around the world and dear friends and partners all facing the same health concerns, we have been praying. Not only does serving Jesus matter, we care about the global Network Beyond family. We are committed to a “faith focus,” meaning that we believe trusting God is a better way than fear through this time. God is still God. Teams remain active, especially in Africa and Latin America. Yet we want to be discerning in following God’s leading as this Corona virus story unfolds and make adjustments in travel if necessary.
From Dudley (Director of ITI), "This morning as I was reading Luke 12 in my quiet time, I found myself meditating on these words in verse 32: “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” In this one verse, I saw the references to God as our Father, our Shepherd, our King. In essence, if we are the flock then He is the shepherd. If He is the Father, then we are His children. If He gives us the keys of the Kingdom, then He is the King, and we are His servants or stewards. As I meditated on this verse and these relationships, I thought about the coronavirus and our response. Fear not, dear people, our Father, our Shepherd, our King is here. This does not give us license to be foolish, but hopefully it will remind us in this time of crisis and uncertainty to keep our eyes focused on the God who provides, the God who cares, the God who reigns."
Thanks for your standing with us. We’re all in this together, Jesus and His people. The need for the Gospel and opportunities continue. Our big project for the year is to greatly expand the Network Beyond family so that the ministry continues to thrive. What if we might grow to see 200 global and U.S. leaders working together, 500 people regularly praying, 100 churches, and 1000 financial supporters? Check out the information on Network Beyond's home page.
We hear of these places regularly … Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Venezuela, Cuba, Myanmar/Burma, regions of Central Asia and the Horn of Africa. These areas speak of danger and pain, often with leadership resistant to the work of Christ-followers. Suffering abounds. Frequent crises sadden us.
However, there’s another story we must share. Speaking of Jesus, “the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” Network Beyond teams work in these places of need and some 24 countries around the world. Your prayers and support make it possible.
What does Jesus’ light look like in the darkness? Recently, twenty-two people in a Horn of Africa site professed Jesus as Savior, with many others hearing the message and receiving needed health care. Venezuelan Christians join many others as graduates of our ITI training. Asian children and young women rescued from brothels are loved and cared for in safe places. Meanwhile hundreds of Middle Eastern children from another religion regularly hear about Jesus. In fact, a prominent Imam now trains others in the way of Jesus. There are Sudanese trained by Egyptian and courageous Iraqi pastors—both “firsts” in Network Beyond (NB) ministry, as the work expands. As you read this, other NB teams work in Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
We hope this encourages and calls you to pray. We need you! Network Beyond leadership desires to enter through doors God has opened by expanding our network of intercessors, givers, churches, and participants. It is exciting and daunting. Here is one example of how you can make a difference: for $5000, the ITI can be offered to pastors in one of the countries mentioned or to a new people group requesting our training. We are grateful!
