In Syria with a decimated economy and infrastructure, teams are distributing loaves of bread to 130 families, three days a week. They would like to do more, yet it literally is all they have to give. “We do it not because we are good, but because our God is good.”
In parts of Ethiopia, Sudan, and Kenya, locusts came first … then the corona virus … floods and more locusts … and for Christians, increased persecution. Efforts are underway to provide both food and the Bread of Life to those who are in need. Fifteen dollars doesn’t provide abundance, but keeps a family alive for a week.
Latin Americans have taken to the streets of their communities to connect to people and share needed food and encouragement. In some nations, the situation was dire even before COVID-19. Peru and Ecuador have been especially hard hit.
Funding shortages have threatened the ongoing work to care for HIV children and girls rescued from sex trafficking in Southeast Asia. Teams there continue to care and are extending mental health assistance and counseling to those who struggle.
