Leaders influence others. Leaders make things happen.
Investing in the development of the leader invests in the development of the whole community.
Countries: Nearly 2,000 leaders are currently enrolled in the ITI in 14 countries.
The ITI is a highly interactive and relational training curriculum designed to equip global leaders. We work through a model that enables leaders to remain with their families rather than having to endure the struggle and expense of lengthy separations common with most traditional residence programs. This approach is highly efficient and affordable, since we are able to train a leader for as little as $300 for all the course work. Developed from a biblical framework familiar to these leaders, issues of relationships, character, and leadership are addressed.
The Need: Our 2018 budget is $400,000 to conduct over 90 ITIs worldwide.
Regions: Latin America, Africa, Middle East, Europe, South Asia
Network Beyond works on the belief that trained leaders can be catalysts to affect change in others. Multiplication is a stated goal of our work. We’ve witnessed this as graduates of our ITI program now teach and translate the course materials in the local language of neighboring countries. As a result, our ITI teams are now multinational in nature, allowing us to expand the scope of training even further.
The Need: ITI multiplication is strategic and effective. While each trainer is a volunteer, we seek to cover travel expenses in their work, about $250 for each.
training the forgotten
Through existing partnerships, we were asked to provide training to leaders within the large deaf population of Kenya, estimated to be 600,000– 900,000 people. Misunderstood by the general population, we sought to provide practical training to equip these leaders to serve the needs of their communities and churches within a context of support and encouragement. Initial training brought enthusiastic response with our first class to graduate in 2017.
The Need: Each training for the hearing-impaired costs approximately $5,000.
Countries: various locations in South America, Africa and the Middle East
Pressures on a leader can be great, affecting marriages and families. But we've witnessed dramatic changes within families as practical training is introduced. These changes include a new way of seeing women and children and the implementation of love and respect within families. As they receive tools leading to healthy relationships, couples often remark that these three-day getaways are highlights of their lives.
The Need: A marriage get-away conference for 20 couples costs approximately $4000, depending on the context. Conferences are conducted annually.
A DEVELOPMENT MODEL THAT WORKS
Countries: Peru, Kenya, Uganda
We've adopted a model of ministry that addresses the whole person—physical, spiritual, emotional, and relational. We work with church and community leaders, empowering people to do what they are able to do for themselves. We believe in the value of communities taking ownership of their problems, identifying local assets and available resources, and being proactive about addressing long-term solutions. In a word, we’re about transformation. We agree with Medical Ambassadors International in their stated goal: “We are asking God to work in us and through us to transform beliefs and change behavior so that his peace, justice, compassion, and righteousness are reflected in the life of the communities we serve.”
The Need: In response to urgent requests, Network Beyond plans to expand leadership training in 2018. Development of these sites and training occurs for $3,000 per site.
