The beautiful Girls’ Rescue Center (GRC) in Maasailand, Kenya stands as an oasis on the African savanna. The GRC was birthed out of a great need—young girls forced to experience the painful and often harmful practice of female genital mutilation. Then these girls, often as young as eight, are sold by family into polygamous marital relationships with older men. Harsh servitude and disease resulted.
At the Girls' Rescue Center, over 50 girls have found new life. They are loved, educated in local schools, and helped in the transition of young adult life. The transformation and success stories are inspiring. Sustainability is being pursued through clean water, gardens, fruit trees, and cows. It is a place where God provides “a future and a hope.” The yearly operational budget of the Girls' Rescue Center is $200,000. You can help by sponsoring a girl at the GRC ($3,200/year) by visiting www.saruni.org.
